Day 2 Cedar City to Ogden.

The first hour or so of the drive was beautiful farm land but when we got around Provo all the way up to Ogden it looked like most cities in America. It was strange to be in Ogden the little city has grown up. I was stationed in the Ogden area when I was in the Air Force 1980 – 1983. We spent the night at Century Mobile Home and RV Park

Day 1 Bullhead City to Cedar City.

We left Bullhead City about 9:30 am and arrived in Cedar City about 4:30 pm Utah Time. What a beautiful time to travel, the desert floor was green which made the mountains stand out even more.

Summer 2017

This is our second summer since we went full-time. We decided that we are pretty comfortable with our truck and trailer now, and it’s time to take a long trip. Our plan is to leave Arizona on the 1st of June and go to Grand Teton National park, Yellowstone N.P., and Glacier N.P.. From there we will travel the Northern United States East to Maine.

Preparing for the trip.

We’ve had a lot of prep work to do for this trip. Being that we are going to travel a lot of miles this summer we wanted to make sure that both the truck and the fifth wheel are road worthy. We purchased both used as a package in 2015. Both have required maintenance which should be expected, but thankfully repairs have been minimal. We were unhappy with our roadside service so we needed to fine a better solution. Our insurance for the truck and trailer have gone up every policy period (without any claims) so we needed to shop that. Finally we had to replace one of our RV club memberships because we didn’t realize any value from it.

Truck and Trailer

Truck: 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 24 v Cummings Turbo Diesel.

We had the brakes, drive train, and engine check. We were happy that the truck only needed front brakes and valve adjustment.

Trailer: 2005 Keystone Cougar Fifth wheel.

We have an appointment mid May to have the wheel bearings inspected and repacked, brakes inspected, and the black water dump valve replaced.
